Jen's Pastels
Welcome to Jen's Pastels! I enjoy creating artwork with pastels. I find it a fun challenge to create a beautiful image on a blank page. This blog was created to share my pastel creations. If you are interested in any of my pastels, please contact me at: jen4pstls@gmail.com

This black & white pastel of a rose and bud took a little while to do. There were a lot of little areas of contrast which were difficult to achieve. I had to keep the pastels sharp in order to remain within the area I was trying to color. Overall, I am quite happy with the way the drawing has turned out.
I really enjoy creating creating drawings in black and white. While I do love color, there is something rather dramatic about the look of a painting done without color.

Cluster of pink roses
Here is a pastel I just finished. I worked off of a photo for this composition. The one thing I found interesting about the photograph were the out of focus flowers surrounding the three in the center. I wasn't sure if it would come out right as a pastel drawing, but I think it turned out rather nicely. I prefer to use images of flowers with lots of petals or a strong contrast between light and shadow.
